Answer
p keshri,
Well, unfortunately a lot of large pet store chain employees no nothing about the fish they sell. In the future do not add any bacteria to the tank. That is what the cycle process is for. As for the yellowish brown stuff growing, its algae. Once in a tank it can be very hard to get rid of. To get it off the gravel, use the gravel vacuum you should have for your weekly water changes. If you have algae, then the water quality is less than good. You can get an algae remover from your lfs. It has 2  pieces and a magnet on one of them. One goes on the inside the other on the outside of the tank. You should be doing weekly water changes by cleaning the gravel and removing 25% of the water replacing it with clean conditioned water. Once you start doing that it will cut down on the algae. Also, do not leave the light on more than 10 hours a day. The light will promote algae if left on too long. Hope this has helped and if you have any other question(s) don't hesitate to ask.
