Angelfish killing each other

Question
I purchased 4 freshwater angelfish yesterday.  Today, only 2 remain. My husband watched as the 2 remaining ate the fins off of 1 of the fish.  I have had angelfish in the past and I have never seem them be aggressive towards each other.  Any advice?

Answer
Gloria,
My first question to you is what size tank are they in? Each Angel needs 30 gallons so to house 4 of them, they need to be in nothing less than 120 gallons. Make sure the tank is tall not long. They are territorial and if the tank is not big enough they will fight to the death which is what has happened to yours. They are establishing the pecking order. Just make sure the tank is the right size and the filter and heater are working properly.
