carbon dioxide in aquarium`

Question
I had the hair brush algae and got rid of it with a clorox (diluted 10-1) I have nothing but artificial plants. WIll I still need to add CO2 for the balance in the tank even though there are no live plants. Do the fish need the CO2?
or does it help with some of the other nitrates and nitrites and stuff like that? How do I add it. I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank with a good filtration system.

Answer
Hi Sharon,
Fish don't need CO2. All you really need to do is focus on maintaining good water quality (maintaining as low nitrate level as possible) and provide plenty of oxygen through good filtration/aeration.

Sounds like you are doing a good job already!

I hope this helps!
