Question
Hi Renee, This time it's not about goldfish.
Is my Molly pregnant?
I have 2 Mollies. One is dark and the other is light. They're both orange and I'm sure they are the same breed. For a few days they were swimming side by side and swimming happily together but now the light colored molly is not so calm. I've observed the light molly and noticed some strange dots on her belly and she is a little aggressive to the darker molly. Sometimes she chases him away and at other times she allows him to be in the some area so her, but she mostly swims away from him. She is 1 and a half inches long, the darker one is about the same size. Is it possible the light one is a pregnant fish?"

Answer
Hello,

Have you determined that they are indeed a male and female?

There is a chance that a molly acquired from a pet store could arrive pregnant.

The best way to find out is 3 weeks down the road, they will give live birth to baby fish.

How long have you had your fish?
