what can i get

QUESTION: I have 1 corydoras catfish 1 bloodfintetra 5 molly 3 platy 2 flying fox 1 spotted rubber plecostomus 3 cherry barb 1 dwarf gourami 1 swordtail and 1 blak kuhlii loach. All in a 50 gal tank if I can get more fish in it because the fish in there is no that big what do you think i should get to improve or gust make my tank look better.

ANSWER: Hi Corey.... Tetra, Molly's, Platty's, barbs, Gourami, Swordtail are all schooling fish... so if I were you..... I would add no more then about 10 more small fish.  each of the fish that I have listed need a few more of their own kinds... so choose from that list. you will need a minimum of three of each kinds and preferably four.  Please do not add anymore plecostomus and nothing too large.  Remember though... that the more fish you add the more water changes... change no more then 20 percent at a time.... dave

QUESTION: I WILL GET 2 MORE BLOODFINE TETRA AND I WANT TO GET A 1 GERMAN BLUE RAM CICHLID DO YOU THIK THAT WOULD BE OK?

ANSWER: Hi Corey... if you put a cichlid in with those community fish... they will disappear one by one till all you are left with is the cichlid.  Cichlids are very aggressive and extremely territorial.  They can and will attack fish that are 2-3 times larger then they are and kill them.... What kind of tank do you want??? you can have a community tank, a semi aggressive tank , an aggressive tank or sort of a mixture of tanks which is what you have now... let me know and I will help you pick fish that you will enjoy.  dave

QUESTION: COMMUNITY FISH AND FISH I COULD GET AWAY WITH HAVING IN THERE.

cat fish, guppies, molly's, plattys, swordtails, tetra, ghost catfish (really kewl), stick fish (really kewl), white cloud minnows, gourami, female betta, mystery snail, etc... these would be good choices... aside from the snail, stick fish, cat, and the betta...all of these are schooling fish.  design your tank in layers.... bottom, middle, and top.... don't forget a few plants... penny wart is a good choice.

bottom, 1-2 cats, albino cats, or oto's and 1-3 stick fish.

middle.... 1 black finned shark (catfish), guppies, swordtail, tetras ( I love the diamond head tetra), moll's, platty's, and the ghost cats,

Top: guppies, platty's white cloud minnow's
