Question
i lost an oscar about a year ago where its eye swelled and fell out and from there he gradually died.
my other one currently has a swollen eye can you suggest anything and are you familiar with this disease

Thanks Dean Casey

Answer
Hello Dean:  Sounds like pop-eye disease.... The swollen eye is a symptom and not the disease... the disease is actually an internal bacterial infection possibly fish TB... fish TB can be transmitted to humans to be careful if you have to handle the fish, stick your hand it the water, etc.  The best course of action if the fish is still eating is to give him a high grade antibacterial med such as Myxazin... other meds are available if you can not find Myxazin.  Visit an aquarium store for medication options to treat your fish.  Fish TB is hard to cure and the success rate is small.  If you need additional help... please let me know...dave
