fish jumped out of tank and is now injured

Question
My large balla shark jumped out of the tank last night.  He landed on the carpet and then flopped around on the floor under the wooden platform (where we could not reach him) for at least 5 minutes.  He was stunned when we put him back in the tank but he was swimming.  This morning he appears to have red (almost looks bloody) spots around his gills.  There is a red tail shark in the tank who can be very aggressive so I wonder if he is attacking the big guy.  I don't have a smaller aquarium to move the balla into but I can purchase one if that is the best solution.

Answer
Patti,

Yes, get him out of there.  Bala reactions to being aggressively chased are to jump out.

Smaller fish run from larger, more aggressive fish and when I go fishing, if I see small minnows jumping ontop of the water, you can bet a big fish is below them chasing them.

Good luck and I hope the little guy made it.  This question was in a pool of questions this morning, rather than sent directly to me, and so I think one of the members gave us his vacation questions, and they've been there for some time, but I am getting them all done today to help out.

Thanks again and good luck
Renee
