Tank integration

Question
Hey Susan,

I've been thinking about integrating two of my semi-aggressive tanks into one single tank.  My 20 gallon has 5 giant danios and a redfinned shark. My 37 gallon has 5 tiger barbs and 1 raphael catfish.  I would like to move the 20 gallon fish into the 37 gallon tank. Both are well established although the 20 gallon is the older of the two tanks. Also the 20 gallon is sediment while the 37 gallon tank is sand. I would also like to move a good chunk of my Christmas moss to the larger tank to allow the redfinned shark his established hiding space. Do you have any thoughts on how these four species would get along? The giant danios and redfinned shark are much bigger than the tiger barbs and raphael.

Thanks for your help.

Pete

Answer
Hi Pete,
Thankfully, I feel that these four species would get along quite reasonably well. True, the giant danios would be bigger than the tiger barbs but giant danios' boisterous personality mixes well with tiger barbs who are equally, if not even more so, bold in temperament. And as long as the red-finned shark has a space of his own and a cave to hide in he should get along well with the raphael and the rest of the species in question.

As with most all fish species, hiding places are much appreciated. So moving the Christmas moss over is definitely a great idea.

I hope this helps and good luck!
Susan~
