QuestionAlright. I know quite a bit about tanks, myself, but I have come to a really big question. I had put a neon swordtail in a breeder net, and a few days later I found these itty bitty tiny white dots all over the net. They are alive, as they move around and deliverately hold onto the net (They are not snails because 1, I dont ahve any snails in the tank, and 2, they don't move like snails, more like copepods), so I took the female out of the net and took the net out and shook some of these little critters into my 1 gal betta bowl (since I know bettas to live through nearly anything) to see what would happen and they are swimming around. Since these were on the net, I am assuming they are all over my tank. I have a 55 gal tank with all live bearers except for a pleco, cory and a clown loach. Perhaps you might know what these tiny critters are? and if they are a threat to my tank at all? I haven't seen them on any of my fish and it seems the baby platys might be eating them, but I am not positive.
AnswerThat is a hard question to answer... They sound like baby water fleas... if that is the case they are harmless... but they could also be a small infestation of flukes... If possible I would take some into the local fish store and let someone look at them... dave
