QuestionMy Beta has a white milky film floating on the top of his bowl. I clean his bowl once a week and use a water conditioner. Someone told me that the film could be from either a plant or his desire to mate. I removed the plastic plant from the bowl but the film still continues to appear. Does this mean he wants to mate or what else could it be and how can I get rid of it?
AnswerThe white film sounds familiar but I can't remember what it means. It isn't mating though. Bubble nesters make a bubble nest and mouth nesters just wait for a female. I think it could be coming from the bowl. Try putting him in a small tank (with all the necessities of a regular fish) and see if that solves the problem.
