Question
I have a take with 2 beautiful angel fish. they have laid eggs many times & each time the eggs disapear within a week. I thought my algea eater was eating them so I removed him-apparently its not him...my son said he saw the angle fish themselves eatin the eggs. so what do we do to keep the eggs & have more beautiful fish? thanks cuz I'm clueless :)

Answer
Well, your son is probably right, the parents ate the eggs. Alot of angelfish tend to eat thier eggs but some will not, you have the ones that do. The only thing you can do once the eggs are layed and fertilized is remove them. You will have to place the eggs in thier own special tank. Also, you will need to get special food for when they hatch. However, angelfish may lay the eggs rather easily but breeding them successfully can tend to be difficult. For example, the special tank for the eggs will need its own heater but no filter because the hatch fry would get sucked up. This leaves you with the problem of doing tiny watch changes daily. Also, the special tank should not have any gravel, this gives you a better chance to see them and not remove the with water changes or other cleaning duties. While it is very difficult and time consuming it can be done. Angelfish are beautiful and its awesome to see them develop. You just need to decide if you have the time, money, and effort to raise the little guys. Much care is needed and even with this care it does not guarantoo success but it is possible. I hope I have helped.
