sick betta follow-up

Question
I wrote in around the end of October about my sick betta that I've had for about 2 months. I mentioned that he laid around on the bottom of his tank most of the time, only to come up on occasion to swim around and try to rub against his plants, then jerk away as if zapped. I'm pretty sure water quality isn't a problem; my other bettas are all in excellent health and water changes and increases in temperature haven't improved his condition. Last week, I began treating him with Betta Revive, because his condition seemed to worsen, but it appeared to have no effect.

Currently, it seems my betta's condition is deteriorating. He lays at the bottom of the tank more than ever and seems to be breathing heavily. He seems relatively pale in color and possibly even a little thin. I can barely even coax him into eating bloodworms, his favorite food, anymore.

Given that I can't spot any signs of a specific disease, I'm wondering if this is just a case of old age. It's not something I like to think about, but is this a possibility?

Answer
Hi Stephanie,
Poor thing.
I'm afraid you may be right about the betta could be slowing down from old age. Sometimes bettas have weak genetics and don't live as long as others. Or they may have something wrong internally that you can't do anything about. If nothing else is helping I would highly suspect maybe old age.

All you can do is try to keep him as comfortable as possible during his last days..

I'm really sorry but best of luck!
Karen~
