Question
Hello, we have a 29gal freshwater set up in my friends beauty shop, here recently I have noticed that we have a moucus like substance in the filter..it reminds me of snot..lol sorry...any ideas what it is or how to get rid of it. btw the tank is totally enclosed and no hair care products can get in. Answer
Hi Staci
No problem with the snot lol, I have 3 kids and a gazillion animals, if I had a dime every time I got snot or worse on me.....I'd be living the good life lol :)

Few questions first....
So, how long has the tank been set up and running?
How many and what kind of fish are in it?
Anything new recently added?(fish, plants, rocks, etc.)
Do you have a test kit, if so what's the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings?
Are or have any of the fish been darting/flashing around the tank, scratching or rubbing on objects in the tank, gasping at the surface, laying on the bottom, breathing heavy/gills moving fast?

My guess would be it's excess slime coat from the fish.  Could be a number of reasons to cause the excess slime on them, water quality, parasites, bacterial infection.  Let me know if you can on those questions to hopefully try to narrow it down.
