Hello chris i hope you can help me i have a new tank approx 6weeks old i have done water changes, rinsed filters in tank water but i can not seem to get the nitrite level down to 0ppm it constantly reads 0.25ppm i have 3 fish in my tank they r fed 3 flakes every 2/3days i have been given diffrent information and i dont know what is right some have told me thats ok others say its not if its not how do i get rid of the nitrite down to oppm cause it seems no matter wat i do it wont go down manny thanks Ron

Hi Ron;

I think it just needs a bit more time. It can take up to 8 weeks sometimes. Only rinse the filter if it gets plugged and won't flow. With such a tiny amount of food going in there it should not need rinsing at all. You didn't mention what kind of fish or what size tank. Maybe you have too small a tank for the kind of fish, or the fish are just too big? Let me know......
