Question
im going to college in the fall and unfortunately have to get rid of my large 55 gallon cichlid tank. so id like to get a smaller 30 gallon for my dorm. i would like to get a freshwater eel(most likely a peacock eel) for this tank and can not find any information on tank requirements for spiny eels. i would also like to know if you had any suggestions on tankmates for a peacock eel and what else i could put in a 30 gallon long with an eel for everyone to be comfortable. thank you, josh

Answer
Hello josh,

I am another Freshwater Expert, and well be taking your question. I currently have a 30 Gallon freshwater tank, and of all fish it has a peacock eel in it! yes they can do fine in a 30 gal. tank as long as you have a few caves and stuff on the bottom to let it hide in. Also it has to be with compatable other fish. Other fish wont hurt the eel but instead the eel can hurt other fish. They go good with any fish thats above 4 inches and is semi-aggressive to agressive.

If you have any further questions please feel free to write me a follow-up.
