Depressed Oscar and Bullhead

Question
I did a gravel cleaning and partcial water change about a week ago and ever since our oscar and bullhead have been very depressed. I haven't noticed any skin stuff going on but they wont eat, don' swim around, and just look like they're dead most of the time. They greet me when I go to the tank but that's it. I used Aqua Safe when I put the water in like I have since the beginning of time but they have never acted like this before. The tank is 29 gal. and both fish are about 9 inches long. Could they be acting this way cause the tank is too small? Im scared they are going to pass on me. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Stephanie: By bullhead I assume you mean a catfish??? From the symptoms that you have described to me I would say that you are correct... your tank is too small for those fish.  It is possible that even with a bubbler in the tank there is not enough oxygen for two large fish to be really active.  I would look for another type of tank that is larger at least 55 gallons. In the meantime keep an eye on them and let me know if anything changes... dave
