3 year old Pleco acting strange

Question
Tank set up 3 years
55 gallon
1 3 year old Pleco, 10 Mollies, 1 Eclipse cat, 3 Cory cats, 1 Rosy Tetra
2 Penguin 350 filters on the back
Using Jungle 6 in 1 test strip, pH is between 6.2 & 6.8 (I can't keep it neutral, & need to know what will) No readings for ammonia, but nitrates & nitrite levels are safe.
Water is changed weekly.
Change 15 to 25 gallons of water at a time.

Pleco behavior is strange. Yesterday it looked like he was trying to get his snout out of the water. Felt the temp, was reading 84/86, I found the heater had malfunctioned. I unplugged it, & added a gallon of cold water. The temp is now 76, but I will be putting in a new heater. It doesn't appear Jaws is eating. I feed Aquarian Algae wafers & 1/2 of a zucchini at night, along with Tetra Color flakes for the Mollies. This morning he was on the intake stem of the filter, with his snout to the top of the water. This isn't something he's ever done before. He does have a "log" (made for aquariums, not real wood) that's big enough for him to lay in, with an air rock under it. He likes the bubbles. His color is normal, not splotchy like he gets when he gets irritated. He just isn't acting normal. He's on the side of the tank more, or upside down at the top of the water, instead of inside his log, which is where he normally stays during the day.

Answer
Hi Karen;

Jaws was just really stressed by the high temperature. Hopefully he will be okay in a day or two. Keep the room quiet to help him recover. There's just really not much you can do but wait...

I hope he feels better soon...
