could sea shells be the problem?

Question
Hi Chloe,

The black spot on my ciclid is only on it's stomach. It is inky looking and probably 1.5-2 cm in diameter.
Why might it be that the spot is primarily on the stomach?
Might my fish have eaten something with a high ammonia concentration?

Answer
Hi Taj,
High ammonia levels will cause your fish to have black spots over their body. Your tank may have high ammonia levels. Test your water. Fish cannot eat anything in the tank of high ammonia levels. The ammonia in the tank is just their waste. This is bad for them and ammonia should always be 0 in an established tank.

Regards,
Chloe.
