fish wiggling

Question
Hi, I just changed my water earlier today, and now several hours later I have noticed one of my silver dollars shaking quickly and swimming sporadically with its head down.  I added the recommended amount of aquarium salt for the tank.  Could the fish have eaten a piece of the salt and is now having problems.  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hello!

Why are you putting salt in the tank? Salt does nothing but stress fish. It does work as a disease treatment but if there is no disease in the tank do not use it.

It is more likely that the sudden spike in the salinity freaked him out and changed a lot of chemical composition in him too quickly.

I advise slowly adding less and less salt, until there is no salt at all in the tank.
