My betta wont liven up or die!

Question
I;ve had my betta for about a year, he just recently would just sit at the top of the water, and not move, he won't eat, and now he just stays at the top on his side... i hate seeing him suffer! when we first got him he would dart down into the rocks, so i think hes been sick for a long time... please help help help!

Your fish migh be old because most places dont sell betas till they are a year older and they only live 2-3 years. Also I'm not sure if it has a disease or not because I dont have enough details also he may just be trying to get air. Maybe you should try and get an air pump if you dont already have 1.
