Question
Hello,
I have a small tank with 3 zebra Danios and one skirt tailed tetra. We added a Tequila Sunrise Guppy to the family a couple days ago, and it already "Went to heaven" Could you please recommend the best fish that are compatible to add to this tank?..also...Don't know if the Danios are Male or Female...Does it matter what gender the other fish are.
My 6 yr old Son and I are both rookies at this whole experience. Thanks you

Answer
Margaret,

First off, when you say small how small. The tank size if very important in helping someone stock it. All tank need to go through a 2 week cycle period. During this time the tank is void of all fish. This is a must do to bacteria blooms that happen during this time. The first bloom is the bad stuff and the second is the good stuff. Also, when adding fish to the tank, they should be quarantined in your hospital tank for 2 weeks before you add them to the main tank. This is done since the fish is new and you dont know if its sick. If it is sick you do not want it to make the rest of the tank sick. As with everything male and female together makes babies. As far as fish, anything that is tropical and small. With the guppy in the tank do not add a male Betta to the mix. With the 4 fish you have right now, I hope they are in a 10 gallon with a filter and heater. As soon as you let me know the size, the sooner I can help you out.
