Depression?

Question
Just the other day i woke up to a alarming sight. my pump stopped working early in the morning while i was asleep. when i woke up i lost a few of my fish and one of my 2 Oscars was barely hanging on. i did all i can but lost her. i bought my 2 Oscars 8 months ago together and they never left each others side the hole time. i assumed that i had a breeding pare but wasn't sure. its only been a few days but my Oscar seems very depressed. i changed the water and put 3 feeder comets in but he just swmings around them (looks like stalking). but hes swimming funny, it looks like hes leaning to the left alittle like he's hurt. So i guess my question is, uis he just depressed or should i be worried about somthing else?

Answer
Hi Stacy,
There could be some depression involved but there may also be some other more serious things.  Depression would not cause him to lean to the left.

I strongly recommend that you never again feed your oscar with feeder goldfish.  Feeder goldfish often carry all sorts of parasites that easily transfer to oscars and kill the oscars.  I get emails every week from people whose oscars are dying from this.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to do more water changes over the next few days as well.
