Sick Male Betta

Question
Hi there,
I have a male Betta in a 40L tank, with a low flow filter and keep him at 27`C. Last night I gave him his dinner (he has a varied diet, Blood worms once a week, and I swap between 3 different pellets and flakes on the other days)I came home this morning to find him laying on his side, there seems to be almost a white film in patches on him, I immeadtly took him from his tank and put him into a 5L container (same water temprature) with an anti-fungual treatment in it,I left him in there while I went to me local pet store who has a breeder of Bettas, He told me it was a swim bladder infection and to feed him a pea, the only problem is I can't get Maxwell to eat his favourite treats of blood worms or brine shrimp, How can I get him to eat a pea? Is there anything I can do for Maxwell or is leaving him in his little 5L container in the anti-fungal treatment the best thing I can do for him?
the only thing that has varied from his routine is I added more live plants into his tank (He has a game where if I am late feeding him he will destroy his plants)
Sorry if I make no sense.
Thanks in advance
Megan

Answer
Megan,
I would try to feed him the cooked shelled pea every day until he eats it. If you can, use tweezers to get the pea right up to his mouth. With him being in that small of a container, it is very important to change his water every day. I would, however, place him in a 2.5 gallon tank so that you can also treat him with aquarium salt. The ratio is 1 teaspoon per every 1 gallon of water. The salt only goes in during a water change. Once he is better, you will start removing the salt by doing 25% water changes for 5 days.
