feeding a calico fish

we have a calico goldfish, the pet store said to only feed him 3 flakes once a day. but it seems he is still hungary because he is constantly at the top of the water with his mouth up and moving as if he were looking to eat more.

Hi Karen,

No pet store should ever give you advise on how many flakes to give him/her as it depends on his size, the flake size and your tank size.  The correct amount to feed your fish is whatever can be consumed in 5-10 minutes.

P.S.  Your fish will usualy seem to look hungry anyway as most calicos do (like oscars).
