Question
I just bought 2 parrot face cichlids and I would like to know more about them they are currently 4inches long and are in a 55gallon aquarium by themselves they like to hide in a log that is in the tank and they are fed 3 times a week Monday Wednesday and Friday I would like to know what I can do to make sure that I feed them properly and that their environment is the way it should be and also what fish may I also add to the tank thank you

Answer
Hi Lee,
At four inches they are partly grown.  They can get at least a few inches larger.  Feeding them 3 times a week is probably okay, though most people feed their fish once a day (that is what I do), skipping an occasional day here and there.

I suggest that you add more structure (plants, wood, rock, etc) to the tank to provide more hiding places.  The more hiding places that there are, the less that they will use them because then they "know" that there is a place to hide if they need it. Keep in mind that moving them into a new tank from the store is going to be a little traumatic for them no matter what, so it may take them a few weeks to feel at home.
