African and Convict Cichlids

I was wondering if african cichlids and convict cichlids can live together. I'm not trying to breed, I just dont have enough room to put them in separate tanks, but I dont want to risk losing a fish.

Hi Melanie

Unfortunately, Africans and Convicts cannot live together, their water requirements are much different. Convicts need a neutral pH of 6.5 - 7.5 and your Africans need a pH above 8.0

Aside from the water requirements, Africans are very aggressive and will kill a Convict if given the chance.
