Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I was wondering why when i went to change the water in the tank i found a worm wriggling, it was brownish in colour and about an inch long? Is it harmful to my fish?
And why is my internal filter after i washed it, the sponge turned a pink colour, is it the food i am feeding the fish which makes it pink? How can i get rid of the colour?

ANSWER: Hi,
This is a freshwater tank, right? Is it the one with the green terror?

I'm the pink could be from algae or rust, depending on the substrate. I have also heard of chlorine or chlorides doing that. What type of substrate do you have?

As for the worm, I need a picture to really help determine if it is harmful, what t is, and how to get rid of them, because I'm willing to bet there is more than one in there.

Back to the chlorine for a second, If I'm not getting you mixed up with another Brendon, that would explain why your green terror is behaving strangely. Do you dechlorinate your water?

QUESTION: Hi,
this is a freshwater tank but it has a different green terror inside.
It has a male green terror on one half of a divider and lots of half - 1 inch fry and a bristlenose on the other half of the tank.

I have gravel for substrate.

AS for the worm i do not have a picture of it because when i saw it, i syphoned it out straight away but it was about 1 inch in length and it was brown.

If there are more than one how do i eliminate all of them out of the tank, but i cant see any around?

Finally can you tell me how to properly vacuum my substrate?

Answer
Hi,
Sorry for my slow response. It is possible that only this one worm found it's way into your tank, so don't worry about it unless you start to see more of them.

How to vacuum your gravel:
Attach a 2" piece of rigid tubing to a 3/4" piece of flexible tubing. start a syphon and use the ridged side to suck up the waste and dirt from the bed.
