My Pet beta fish

Question
My pet beta, aquamarine, has always had a long tail.  I've had
her(or him, we don't really know) for about five or six months.  I
just cleaned her aquarium and I realized part of her tail was
gone.  Is this natural?  Will she die?  Should I just forget about it
because there's nothing I can do?  Please, please help!  I'm just a
kid and my last fish died because he committed suicide.  I don't
want to loose this one!!!

Answer
Hi Casey;

Aquamarine may have a condition known as "fin rot". The tail is actually a fin too. Here is a link to a good article about it and what to do;

I hope Aquamarine feels better soon.....
