Fading fins

Question
Hi Lynda - I was wondering whether you can help me.  My husband has a Betta in at work and part of it's top fin has lost all it's colour (it's a moon Betta I think).  I thought maybe it was finrot but it just seems to have affected a part of the top fin and nowhere else.  Do you know what it could be and do you think it will spread.  He seems fine apart from that and has twice weekly water changes, has a heater (24 degrees) and is eating well?

Many thanks>  Kris

Answer
Hi Kris,
To be sure he is okay, I would treat him with Bettafix.  Bettafix is a natural medication, and should help him.  I would have to see the fish to be sure this isn't a disease.  Watch him carefully to be certain that it doesn't spread to other parts of his body.  I do not know what size tank he is in, but adding diluted aquarium salt to his water would also help.  One teaspoon to 5 gallons of water.  Aquarium salt helps with stress, and parasites.
I hope it is nothing serious, if his condition gets worse, please write back to me.
