Ranchu fish early fungus?

Question
Hi there,
i am a bit concerned with one of my young ranchu fish, he seems to be ok, hes eating his usual amount, and his behavior hasn't changed (that i have noticed), but on his head where it is usually a pale orange, i have noticed small bits of white appearing, there isn't enough to tell clearly what it is from photos i have seen on the Internet, but he wont stay still for a second when i am around to take a photo myself. if you can help me by describing what the early sign of fungus looks like and how to treat. he hasn't been cut (that i know of) the only thing is, last weekend, the tank he was in was cleaned and he was removed by net into a bowl. his wife who also lives in that tank seems to be fine.

Answer
Adam,
Make sure when you are doing water changes that you aren't taking out ALL the water - and it is not necessary to remove the fish. Since you have two goldfish (at least), you should have at least a 30 gallon tank. So keep that in mind as well. Tanks that are too small will result in disease and eventually premature death.
It sounds like he is just beginning to have a problem, so make sure you help to prevent it from getting worse by keeping his water clean, and adding aquarium salt. (a few grains each time you do a water change is fine)
If it begins to get worse, you can purchase a remedy all, such as Lifeguard.
