Convict - female

Question
I have pair of convicts, they have been in the tank since set up about 10months ago. They have breed quite a few times. The tank consists of a mixed lot that I have been told shouldn't be together, i.e. angels, tetras, but they have got along quite well without any hassels until recently. The female convict sinks to the bottom and when she comes out for food it looks as though it is a struggle to get to the top of the tank.
What is her problem?

Answer
Hi Amanda,
It's hard for me to say, but it is possible that she is just getting old.  Is her belly sunken in?

Alternatively, is it possible that the male convict or one of the other fish has been attacking her?
