Swollen belly on my betta

23 14:44:09

Question
Hi, I was just wondering if you could help me out. I have a betta fish and
since last week his belly is swollen. It also has a kind off white coat on top of
the water and a couple of white bubbles.

Do you know what could be wrong and what I can do to make him better.

Thank you so much.

Maria.

Answer
Hi.
It could be a lot of things, as swollen bellies are a symptom of many diseases. The most obvious would be constipation, and thankfully easiest to treat. Give your Betta shelled and boiled peas and other vegetables such as cucumber to help it pass. Give him a varied diet of bloodworm, briseshrimp and daphnia too.
That should hopefully work.
Best of luck,
Kathryn
