Question
I decided to go into Petco today to see what kind of Guppies they have. I've had guppies my whole life and have over 152. Well, I was walking around and saw these cute things that look like golfballs. I had to have one. The problem is i don't have an available 10 gallon tank. I don't want to get one that big knowing I'm moving in a month. So, I purchased a 2 gal.? Is that ok for about maybe a month?... I have read many different things and told many different thing. Another thing that you may can help me on is, when I do get the 29 gallon tank I want for them, is it good to have artificial plants or real plants?... and is there any tips you can give me on these fish?...Plus, if I don't want my fish to have that big bubble looking thing on it's head, how do I know if it will?  Like I said I have never had a goldfish besides the kind you get at the fair which I have actually had that one for almost a year.

Thanks,
Shelby

Answer
Hello Shelby,
Unfortunately, It would not be a good idea to put a goldfish into a two gallon tank for many reasons. A goldfish should have a 20 gallon tank, with ten gallons extra for each added goldfish. Instead, you could maybe try two or three platies. They are very colorful and playful. My favorite small fish include peacock gudgeon's, dwarf cory catfish, kuhli loaches, and fancy guppies with the leopard spots. All of those will need a heater, but they are really fun and colorful fish.
As far as the big bubble thing on top of it's head, if Oranda is in the name then it will have it. Oranda goldfish naturally have a growth on top of it's head. For any other questions please feel free wto write me again anytime. :)
