planted aquarium

hi  i am wanting to st my 30 gallon aquarium up as a planted tank i will have a penguin 330, a 200 watt heater, twin tube flurescent lights (shop lights), and i was wondering what is a good plant substrate like crushed granite with somehting or should i spend a load of money for that eco complete also anything else you could help me with i will also have a homemade co2 injector thanks

Hi Alex,
  If you are interested in doing plants in a serious way, then you should strongly consider getting the best substrate.  Of course that will mean investing more at this point, but you will probably enjoy it more in the long run.  It is also much easier to start right than to try and fix it later.
