White Molly Behavior

Question
Chris,
I have 2 mollies (1 black and 1 white) in a 2.5 gallon tank with a Whisper power filter.
The white molly has a good appetite but very erratic behavior, just darts around the tank and up and down the side. Nitrates are normal 15ppm, Nitrite is 0ppm, hardness is normal, alkalinity is 90-100ppm and ph is about 6.5.

Any suggestions to the behavior of this fish?
Thanks,
Josh

Answer
Hi Josh;

The tank is pretty small for these two fish. Mollies get about 2 inches long and that means they are total of 4 inches. A 4 gallon tank is the minimum size they really need (one inch of adult fish per gallon). Make 25% water changes twice a week until you can get them a larger one.

How long has the tank been set up?
What sexes are they?
Do the fish have any spots or other signs of illness?
Do they eat well? What kind of food and how often?
