Female Guppys look like they are pregnant, but...

Question
Hi I have various fish in my 55 gallon tank. It has 8 small catfishes, 5 gouramies, one female betta and one zebra. About 2 weeks after I had put the guppies in I noticed that the 4 females have big bellies. I was all excited because I thought they were pregnant however it is well over the 4 week pregnancy period. It is more than 3 months and they still have those big bellies. There are no red threads sticking out of their bellies or anything. In fact they look healthy and the males aren't bothering them anymore... what is going on? Please help me out if there is any parasite I will like to help them.

Thank you!

Answer
Hey Cecilia

Are you sure your 'females' aren't males?

Females would have given birth 3 or 4 time by now.  I think you either have young males or your female are just barren or infertile.

As you have a large tank, try getting 3 or 4 more female guppy but research how to sex guppies first so you are absolutely sure!

Also can i suggest,  you said you have one zebra? Is this a zebra danio?  If so get another 4 or 5 as they love to be shoals and they add speed and color as they shoal together.
