this is day two with the fish.....i felt better after reding your answers, but now i am at home and my fish keeps moving his mouth like he is gasping for air...which is silly, but maybe not?  also the water is a lot more cloudy today!! what if my filter is barley making any bubbles...is that bad?  help please
Answer -
Hi Dawn,
Hmm.... do you have an airstone in the tank, if not, you really should have an airpump with an airstone in the tank.

The cloudy water is because that tank is new.  This could last for a bit. The cloudiness itself isn't a problem, it just indicates the number of bacteria are increasing rapidly.

What kind of filter do you have?

My filter came with the tank...it is a plastic case that hangs to the rim inside the tank..the motor fastens underneath, and plugs into the wall.  The filter is a carbon filter that slides into the case.  The filter itself is called a "Whisper (something)"

Answer
Hi Dawn,
I know the kind. That is a fine filter; however, it is still a good idea to have an air pump and an airstone in the tank.

Also check the temperature of the tank, you don't want it above 80oF.
