fighting fish air bubble

Question
Hi there,
My fighting fish seems to have an air bubble in him which is dragging him to
the surface of the tank all the time.  It also seems to be on one side, so he is
spending most of his time on one side on the surface of the water.  Do you
have any idea what I can do to help him?  He is in a tank of de-chlorinated
water with aquarium salt, and also some fungus cure that I am using to treat
a little bit of fin rot that has started.
Thank you,
Susanne

Answer
Susanne,                                                               Your bettas has a really bad swim bladder disease and it sounds like it has moved right into dropsy. Dropsy is really terminal, but miracles can happen. This site tells you all about it.
http://www.nippyfish.net/dropsy.html Remember if you have a filter on your tank remove the carbon for the 7 days of treatment. Then a 33% water change. Treat with marcayn 2....make a seperate container with 1/2 tsp salt per gallon. You can soak him in that at least 2 times a day to try and purge his system of extra fluid build up.....Good Luck, Tina
