Question
I have a black convict names Flounder, he is over 11 years old. The past few weeks he has been laying on the bottom of his tank and a few times I thought he was dead, but he is still alive, he is just not acting like himself. I was wondering how old these fish can live? And if there is something I can give him to perk him up or if it just old age?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Donna,
Eleven years!   That is a VERY, VERY, VERY old convict cichlid.  Some of the larger cichlids like oscars can live
into their early 20's but I have never heard of a convict living anywhere near 10 years.   I suspect that old age is
catching up with him.  You must have taken very good care of him for him to live such a long time.
