colors

every time i come to feed my tiger oscar he changes from light brown and dull red to black and bright red but only part of him changes color though, whats going on?

Hi D man,
 Oscars, like many cichlids, use color to communicate mood.  Learning to "read" your oscar is a big part of the fun.
Basically, he is excited to see some food coming.
