Question
Hi Chris, I just set up a 5 gallon tank with filter and pump and  8 small gold fish(feeders).
I am feeding them flakes & this is the 4th day and they are happily swimming around. I was told that all my feeders would be dead in two weeks! I also read this on the internet.
I also have a pond in my yard,  so I could put a few fish outside if necessary. But I enjoy having them inside now. Do you think I have too many fish in my tank?
Thanks, Linda

Answer
Hi Linda;

Yes, there are way too many fish in that little tank. A 5 gallon really isn't even big enough to keep even one goldfish healthy for very long. Goldfish are pretty tolerant of ammonia so they just have't gotten sick from it yet. Test the ammonia level and you will see what I mean. It would be a good idea to move them out before they actually get sick.

Good luck!
