Question
Well i have a 55 gal tank. I have an African spotted leaf fish, Silver needle fish, ghost knife fish, silver dollar, black spotted puffer, peacock eel, kissing guarami, and 2 Australian rainbow fish and a fish that is yellow and has black tiger lines that run vertical. We feed the puffer, needle fish, and leaf fish small minnows, bloodworms, brine shrimp. When i got the puffer he was hungry for the feeders. now (2 months later) he isn't so hungry. About 2 weeks of this. any ideas.

Answer
Hi Tim,

Does your puffy have any signs of a hollow belly, or does he look generally emaciated?

Loss of appetite coupled with a loss of colour could suggest Fish Tuberculosis. However, I doubt it is that.

Puffers tend to go off of food when the nitrates in the tank peak, so run a test on your nitrates and perform a partial water change to rectify any problems.

Give me a run-down of his physical aspects and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!
