Question
QUESTION: sorry i just sent u a question about my green spotted puff fish...and i forgot to ask u how often i should feed them cause they always seen hungry...their just babies....
and if theres anything i need to know about taking care of them or anything special i need to be doing to make sure they stay alive and healthy....
their the only fish i have in the tank and its a gallon and a half tank is that too small?

ANSWER: Hi Stephanie;

The tank is way too small. Depending on what type of green spotted puffer they are (there are three types) they could need anywhere from a 10 gallon to a 50 gallon tank. They also need a filter as well as a heater to keep their water temperature consistent. Puffers are very prone to parasites and they will easily be infected in cool water and tanks that are not filtered or are too small.

Feed them only once a day and go to the web page I recommended earlier http://puffernet.tripod.com for the type of foods your particular green spotted puffers need. Remove any uneaten food immediately so it doesn't foul the water.

Good Luck...

Answer
Hi Stephanie;

I can't see what kind of green puffers you have so I can't tell you what the size will be or what what temperature they like. There are three called "green spotted puffer". Go to this link;

http://puffernet.tripod.com/confusion.html

It has pictures and descriptions so you can tell exactly which one of the three types of green puffers you actually have. Write down what you find out.

Then go to this link;

There is a list of scientific names and lower down is a list of common names. Click on the name of your species. It will tell you what you need to know about temperature, temperament and adult size of your particular puffers.
