Question
hey this is tabitha. i am 16 years old and i just got an oscar fish yesturday.. well, today me and my mom went to petco to get another oscar so that one wouldnt be lonely.. i love fish! i was raised around them! but anyways, ever since i put those two fish together, they have been doing this weird vibrating motion with their tail.. is it a warning to the other? or is it something they just do? i mean.. one moment they love each other and then the next the bite each other and attack each other and then a minute later they are friends again.. but the whole tail thing has got my wondering.. what does it mean? please help..

Answer
Ok first off all you will need a big tank like a 75 gallon tank at the very least. This is good news the vibrating tails means that they are a pair and are going to have fry. When the fry start swimming feed them baby brine shrimp. Also many people by these fish thinking they can live in an unfiltered, unheated, and uncared for enviroments. You need to do weekly water changes of 25% and you need to change filter inserts monthly. Oscars need a high protein diet so feed them frozen bloodworms, frozen beefheart, and a cichlid flake or pellet, and with this food selection these will be the happoest and healthiest fish on earth!
