Question
hi my fishtank is cloudy and i just changed the water. I am wondering if you kno of anything i can use or do without hurting my guppies. I am also wondering how i can take my fish out of the tank so i can clean it without killing them. If you could answer these questions that would be great.thanks

Answer
Hello,
Never take fish out of a tank, and only change 25% of your water once a week, always siphoning from the bottom.  Add water of the same temperature back to the tank using a good water conditioner.  Never change all the water as your chemistry would change causing death to all your fish.  Your water should have zero ammonia, zero nitrites, and nitrates should be low.  If your water is cloudy it is because it is still cycling.  It will clear up in time.  Do not add any chemicals, let it run, and check your water.  You can buy these small test kits at Walmart or the Pet Store.  They are a "must have" when keeping fish.  If your ammonia level goes up, you should do little water changes everyday until it is down to zero.  Ammonia is the number one killer of fish.
