You emailed me that I should buy 2 platy fish for my 8 gallon tank.
My Q is:
Would they breed?

I want to know because all the websites you e mailed my said to have 3 females for every male, then you said to get one female and one male. I want to have a positive breeding chance. So

Would they breed if I had only one male and one female?

The reason they suggest 3 to one female is because males harrass females for breeding.

I agree with them, but in your case, Manahil, you have lost so many fish, it is best to introduce only one pair at first and then later, after they are doing well, add 2 more females.
