BLACK MOOR LOSING SCALES

Question
I have a 25 gal. tank with a black moor, 2 tiny little fish (don't know what they are called), an african albino dwarf frog and 2 sucker fish.  We've had them all for over a year.  Lately, I've noticed how HUGE one of the sucker fish is getting, the other is still small. The big one keeps sucking briefly on the black moor and one by one taking the scales off.  I figured this sucker fish was just getting too big and not getting enough to eat in the tank. Could this be the case and will the Black Moor live and grow it's scales back?  I've since removed the big sucker fish.  Thanks

Answer
Hello Misty-

Your Moor should be fine as long as the injuries haven't drawn blood and he still has some scales left. It's good that you removed the sucker fish. Melafix and aquarium salt will help regrow the scales within a month or two, depending on the damage.

If you have no other place to put the sucker, most pet stores will buy large fish and keep them in a huge community tank until they are purchased.

Hope this is helpful!
