Question
QUESTION: Hi Trish,
I had a M and FM in the same tank. 30ltr. 80 degrees F. 6 inches of water.
She filled up with eggs and stay on the bottom of tank. He'd chase her around. Going good so far....He then blew bubbles"nest" ( they just looked like normal bubbles though)...chasing...bubbles...for about 4 days. Then she just died!!! What went wrong?

ANSWER: Hi Rawiri.  I felt like I had to contact you again because I have a feeling you weren't happy with what I had to say/think/suggest about your question.  I'm thinking that maybe I am misunderstanding the question?  I would like, if you want to, for you to write me back and we can try again?  Try to be more specific and let me know where you were with it, and how much you are "in to it" and how you introduced them, anything you can tell me, then we might be able to figure out how to proceed if/when you decide to do it again.

Again, this is if you would like to.  Because if so, I would like to help you also.

In any event, take good care,

QUESTION: Hi Trish,
thanks for the communication. I won't be trying again. I think the female got too exhausted. I have the male in the tank with another female. there was originaly two F and the M. They are sharing the tank with two cat fish. They all seem to be getting along alright. I noticed that one of my F goldfish has swollen up with eggs, so I may try something there.
Once again, thanks for your concern.
May get back to you one day, Ra.

Answer
Hi Rawiri.  Thanks for getting back to me.  I just felt bad and wanted to make sure there was nothing else I could help you out with.  I only know what I've read about breeding Bettas and I have a friend that does breed them in his business and he tells me how difficult it is and how much work is involved.  If you ever decide to venture in to it again, maybe I can get you in touch with my friend.

If you do go with your goldfish and try to get them to spawn, just make sure it happens in another tank where you can take the male and female out, because they WILL eat the eggs.  And if they do this in a tank with other fish, they will eat the eggs too.  (I'm sure you probably know this, just reiterating).  I do also have goldfish contacts, so if you do need any type of help, all you need do is write me!

Take care and Good Luck!!!  ;o)
