Question
i have a sixty-five gallon tank with 5 fancy goldfish.  filtration -eheim 2076, emperor 400, 25 watt uv filter, and a 30 gallon  aqueon which i threw on just because i had it around.  i am very concerned about the temperature which has risen to slightly over 80 degrees in the tank.  the fish so far have not shown any signs of  discomfort.  during the high heat of the day i turn the spray bar of the eheim so that the water shoots up into the air and comes down with more force.  is there anything else i can do? i take super care of my aquaria, and these fish seem to recognize me. crazy?  thanks in advance.  fred d'amato.

Answer
Fred,

I have heard that some people use the plastic water bottle, filled 3/4 of the way to the top and then placed in the freezer. Make sure the bottle is aquarium safe. Remove any label or glue on the outside of the bottle. You will want to have a few of these. You want to change the temperature slowly and this is a good way to do it. The ice will melts slowly allowing the temp to go down gradually. You will not want to do this at night because it should already be cool enough. If you have any other question(s) don't hesitate to ask.
