Question
i have a 14gal tank with a wisper filter and a 4" air stone the tank is dirty i need to clean the tank, the problem is i have two dalmatian mollys they are both having problems one is crooked and swims like he is all locked up the other just acts like it is swimming all the time and doesent go anyplace but it can if it wants to but it just seems like it cant stop swimming

Answer
Ted,
The first thing is they need the water clean. The fish are reacting to the high amounts of ammonia and nitrites in the water. It is very important to do the weekly 25% water changes and gravel cleaning. If it is very dirty, do a 50% change now. Then tomorrow test the water. If you get anything other than zero ammonia or nitrites, do another 25% change and do this until both chemicals are reading zero. As for the bent one, it will most likely not recover from it. It could be fish Tuberculosis. It is contagious not only to the other fish, but you also need to be very careful. If you put your hands in the water make sure you use gloves that have been rinsed in very hot water before you put your hands in. I have included a website that explains what it is and what to do.

The fish doing the strange swimming could also be getting this disease.
